Immerse yourself in the world of Harry Potter, in the heart of Porto? It is possible, thanks to the visit of the Lello bookstore.
If you are a fan of the Harry Potter adventures, the winding stairs of the Lello bookstore should remind you of something. This place was indeed a great inspiration for J.K. Rowling's description of the magical stairs of Hogwarts. And it is precisely this specificity that has made the bookstore a must-see when visiting Porto.
Once inside, you can not only walk up the famous central staircase but also buy books in several languages and some of them in special editions. The woodwork on the walls and the stained glass on the ceiling make this place even more magical and pleasant to visit.
Since it is located in the city center, you can easily visit the Lello bookstore in the morning and then head to other monuments in the area. The Clerk's Tower, for example, is only a 2-minute walk away.
For Harry Potter fans, there is another place in Porto that is not to be missed: the "Majestic café". The writer of the successful saga wrote some of her novels there. It's an opportunity to dive into the world of her writing over a cup of coffee.
By the way, while walking in the city, you might also notice similarities between the Hogwarts costumes... and those of the Portuguese students! The latter are indeed wearing a black cloak, a white shirt and a tie, which are not unlike the Hogwarts students' outfits.
The bookstore is located in the historic center of Porto, so you can easily walk there.
If you arrive by metro, you will have to stop at the "Aliados" station and walk for about 10 minutes. You can also take the tramway to "Clérigos" (a 3-minute walk) or the bus, which will drop you off right next to it, at the "Cordoaria" stop.
Weekdays: from 09:30 to 19:30
Saturday and Sunday: 09:30 to 19:00
The entrance ticket to the Lello Bookshop costs 5€.
