Braga District Travel Guide

The district of Braga is located in the northwest of Portugal, in the historical region of Minho. It has two major northern cities to visit: Braga, its capital, and Guimarães.

Some beautiful sandy beaches line its Atlantic coast, but the main attractions of this district are inland. We can obviously mention the Peneda-Gerês National Park, one of the most beautiful natural areas in Portugal. This park is well worth a visit and can be visited at any time of the year: spring and autumn are ideal seasons for hiking, while summer allows you to fully enjoy the rivers and waterfalls.

If you have the opportunity, it is also interesting to spend a day in Guimarães. This medieval city is home to a charming city center but also to one of the 7 wonders of Portugal: the Castle of Guimarães.
