Armando & Cristina

In their workshop in Ameal, a village in the municipality of Coimbra, there is a peaceful atmosphere. Surrounded by pots of paint of all colors, Cristina and Armando work with patience and precision. For more than 30 years, they have been producing ceramic objects, entirely painted by hand. 

Their inspiration comes from the very roots of Coimbra's artisanal ceramics, which were born in the 16th century in these lands. The painted decorations have a very characteristic style of this colorful art, inspired by nature. Most of the time, these decorations represent flowers and animals, in a very delicate way.
